Notes:
The figure for 2004 is provisional.
The countries included are Czech Republic, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania.
Index: 1996 = 100. Numbers of cases per country per year are presented in Table DRD-2 part (ii) in the 2006 statistical bulletin.
It is important to remember that the index has been computed using data from a limited number of countries. Also note that the Czech Republic, Estonia and Poland account for a substantial proportion of victims younger than 25.
Czech Republic did not provide data for 1996 to 2000, Estonia for 2004, Cyprus for 1996 to 2003, Hungary for 2002, Poland for 2004, Slovakia for 1996 to 2003 and Romania for 1996-2000. The computation method is detailed in EMCDDA (2001).
