Notes:

The information refers to 1990 or the closest year for which information on the deceased's characteristics was available.

Toxicology is computed as valid percentages, over the cases with known toxicology. The computation basis for toxicology should be obtained by (No of DRD) x (% known toxicology).

 (1) For Germany, the data refer to age under 14.

 (2) For Greece, the data refer to age up to 20.

 (3) For Germany, the data refer to age 30+. For Greece, the data refer to 31+.

 (4) For the Czech Republic, EMCDDA Selection D was used instead of the national definition. National definition includes also poisoning by psychoactive medicines, which accounts for most cases.

 (5) For Spain, the data is based on six cities (Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Zaragoza and Bilbao).

 (6) United Kingdom: (DSD) based on definition developed for the drug strategy. See Drug-related deaths — methods and definitions.
