Notes:

(1) For Czech Republic, EMCDDA Selection D was used instead of the national definition. National definition also includes poisoning by psychoactive medicines, which accounts for most cases.

In some countries, the ‘national definitions’ of drug-induced death include a limited number of cases of deaths indirectly related to drug use. See Methodological notes in the 2012 Statistical bulletin.

Although all cases are included in 'N', in some countries not all cases have information on toxicology. The proportions have been computed as valid percentages (see Table DRD-1).

Reitox national reports 2011 are taken from national mortality registries or special registries (forensic or police). Based on national definitions as presented in the 2012 Statistical bulletin, Methodological notes for drug-related deaths.
