Romania reported a large relative increases in drug-induced deaths, the 2009/10 figure being 4.9 times the 2003 figure (33/7). The point has been omitted from the graph to allow a reasonable scale for the rest of the countries.

Squares above the line represent an increase while squares below the line represent decreases.

In Cyprus and Slovakia, the first year with available data is 2004.

Number of cases per country per year are presented in Table DRD-2.

In some countries, the ‘national definitions’ include a limited number of cases of deaths indirectly related to drug use. See Methodological notes in the Statistical bulletin.
